Frances Marie Hempen

27 May, 2006 by troy glidden

Mrs. Frances Marie Hempen, age 80, of McPherson, Kansas, entered eternal rest at 1:22 AM, Saturday, May 27th, 2006 peacefully at Memorial Hospital, McPherson, Kansas.

Frances Marie Hempen, the daughter of Lloyd and Eula Doris (Eagle) Krepps, was born March 17, 1926 at Buffalo, Kansas. She was the eldest of three children born to this union, two daughters and one son: Frances Marie, Wyona, and Dean. Frances Marie was Baptized and confirmed at the First Christian Church in Chanute, Kansas where she was a member and began a life long strong relationship with her Lord. She attended the Buffalo grade schools and graduated from Buffalo High School.

Frances Marie was blessed with the birth of two daughters: Pamela, and Cheryl. She took great pride in her role as a homemaker and provider for her family. She always wanted to be there for them when they needed her. This was so important for her to do. She found this same love within her brother who was always there for her and his whole family. In 1956 she moved her family to McPherson, Kansas from Chanute where she started working as a nurses aid for the Cedars. Through the years she was a nurses aid, a private caretaker, a house keeper for the Holiday Manor until her retirement, but first and foremost always a mother.

Frances Marie was a devoted Christian, loving and caring mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, niece, and friend. Her wise counsel, gentle but firm guidance, gracious smile, and sense of humor will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her. She always wanted the best for her girls and wanted them to follow their dreams. She was especially fond of her grandchildren and great-granddaughters, always looking forward to their visits and times they would share together. Frances Marie was very strong willed and was always a hard worker. In rough times when things seem to knock her down, she would always get up, brush herself off, and keep going forward to finish the tasks at hand. She never spent time feeling sorry for herself. She would say there is no reason to and no time to do it. With all that Frances Marie faced in this life, she always had a deep faith in her Lord, a positive attitude to always press on, and a great sense of humor.

Frances Marie loved sports, especially basketball, football and baseball. She enjoyed watching baseball until they decided to strike, she didnít agree with that so she had her own strike on baseball. She was a very good friend and neighbor. One that you could trust with your most private thoughts or count on to help you out.

Mrs. Frances Marie Hempen, age 80, entered eternal rest peacefully at 1:22 AM, Saturday, May 27th, 2006 at Memorial Hospital, McPherson, Kansas. She was preceded in death by her parents; and a great-granddaughter, Makayla ReAnn Kantor.

Surviving members of her family include her two daughters: Pamela K. Mahan, of McPherson, Kansas and Cheryl A. Kingsford and her husband Daniel, of Denver, Colorado; a brother, Dean Krepps, of Olathe, Kansas; a sister, Wyona Scott, of Olathe, Kansas; three grandchildren, Marcy Kantor and her husband Russ, of Salina, Kansas, Carly Kay Kingsford, of Denver, Colorado, Davan Michael Kingsford, of Denver, Colorado; two great-granddaughters, Shania Lynne Kantor and Andrea Nicole Kantor, both of Salina, Kansas; her aunt, Iva Hayes, of La Cygne, Kansas; a nephew and a niece, other relatives and a host of friends.
