Elton Floyd Sellers

Elton Floyd Sellers, age 84, of McPherson, KS passed away Wednesday, September 6th, 2006 while in the company of family members at his residence.
Elton Floyd Sellers was born the son of Floyd Fletcher and Nellie Maude (Fortner) Sellers on March 14, 1922 near Canton, Kansas. He was one of four children, Albert Marcel, Leona, Elton and Donna born to this union. He attended the North Liberty country school and graduated from Canton High School, Canton, Kansas in 1940.
Elton honorably served his country as an Ensign in the United States Navy Air Corps during World War II. He was the pilot of a SB2-C “Helldiver.”
Elton was united in marriage to Jacqueline Joy “Jackie” Hedinger on March 29, 1944. They lived in Corpus Christi, Texas and Jacksonville, Florida until returning to McPherson at the end of World War II. They were blessed with the birth of a daughter, Nancy. Elton and his family were deeply saddened by Jackie’s unexpected death on October 4, 1994 at Albuquerque, New Mexico, while she and Elton were returning from a vacation. Elton and his family were again saddened by the death of Nancy on February 21, 1995. Elton was united in marriage to Jean (Buehler) Anderson on December 31, 1995. They remained in McPherson and were blessed with nearly eleven years of loving and devoted companionship.
Elton was an Area Supervisor for KANEB Pipeline Company. During his leisure time, Elton enjoyed Playing bridge with his friends and gardening. Elton was an avid bowler in his younger years and was recently inducted into the McPherson Bowling Hall of Fame. Elton also enjoyed traveling. He and Jean had the opportunity to travel to England on the Concorde and to Singapore.
His family was of the utmost importance to Elton and he enjoyed the time that he could spend with them. He was particularly fond of his grandchildren and great grandchildren. His warm smile, gentle teasing manner and the twinkle in his eye will be missed by those that knew and loved Elton.
Elton passed away on Wednesday, September 6, 2006 at his residence in McPherson, while in the company of his family. He had attained the age of eighty four years, five months and twenty-three days. Elton was preceded in death by his first wife, Jackie; his daughter, Nancy (Krehbiel) Stucky; a brother, Lt. Albert Marcel Sellers, and a sister, Leona Lindgren.
Surviving members of his family include his wife Jean Sellers of McPherson, Kansas; two step daughters Carla Jo Shaw and husband, Scott, and Garnet Rae Fiedler and husband, Roger, all of McPherson, Kansas; his sister Donna Ratzloff and husband, Menford, of Canton, Kansas; seven grandchildren, Jeffrey, Jay and Jerry Krehbiel, Jodi Cheek, Alison Berger, Corry Strange, and Shane Fiedler, all of McPherson, Kansas; fourteen great grandchildren, Zachary, RaeLyn, Jeremy, Nicole, Casey, Jacob, Dylan, Carsen, Callie, Cole, Taylor, Tyler, Jordan, and Katie; other relatives and a host of friends.
Friends are invited to call Friday 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. with the family present from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Glidden-Ediger Funeral Home.
The graveside Service will be at McPherson Cemetery, McPherson, KS. at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 9, 2006 with Reverend H. Dick Reynolds, Jr. officiating.
Memorial contributions may be given to American Cancer Society or Hospice Care of Kansas.

You have my deepest sympathy for you loss. It was truly my pleasure caring for Elton when he was here at the hospital, his sense of humor, caring and just his ways will be missed so much.
