Mr. Wayne Carlyle "Buster" Cunningham, 64, of McPherson, Kansas, passed away at 2:28 a.m., Thursday, December 27th, 2007 peacefully while in the company of family members at Memorial Hospital McPherson, Kansas.
Wayne Carlyle “Buster” Cunningham, the eldest son of Wayne Ralph and Vermoyne June (Marston) Cunningham, was born on June 23, 1943 in McPherson, Kansas. Buster was a graduate of McPherson High School, McPherson, Kansas in 1961. He enjoyed playing high school baseball and football. He went on to pursue his education at Kansas State University, Manhattan, Kansas.
Buster was a natural fisherman and hunter. He and his younger brother Gary Cunningham loved to hunt in the fields of Roxbury and fish in local area ponds. Buster, Gary, and their dad Wayne would sneak off at the crack of dawn to go fishing at Lake Kanopolis.
During the 70’s, Buster worked for Certain-Teed Plastics. He then was employed with Kansas Jack for over 5 years. He later retired with Ferguson Production in 2005.
Buster was a Christian. Some of his greatest attributes were serving as the director of the Phoenix House helping others get back on their feet and taking care of his parents in their time of need.
Mr. Wayne C. “Buster” Cunningham, 64, of McPherson, Kansas, passed away at 2:28 a.m., Thursday, December 27th, 2007 peacefully while in the company of family members at Memorial Hospital, McPherson, Kansas. He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Karlie Rae Odum.
Surviving members of his family include his loving children, Bryon Cunningham and his wife Lara, of Austin, Texas, Cristy Cunningham of Waco, Texas, and Sharon Vickerson and her husband Rich, of Tuscaloosa, Alabama; his parents, Wayne and Vermoyne Cunningham, of McPherson, Kansas, his brother, Gary Cunningham and his wife Liz, of McPherson, Kansas; his three grandsons, Grant Cunningham, Reid Cunningham, and Spencer Odum; his niece, Tammy Wann, of Mustang, Oklahoma; other relatives and a host of friends.
The funeral service will be held at Glidden - Ediger Chapel, McPherson, Kansas, at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, December 31st, with Reverend Connie Martin officiating.
The final resting place will be in the McPherson Cemetery McPherson, Kansas.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Phoenix House of McPherson.
