G. Wayne Ensminger

Mr. G. Wayne "Papa" Ensminger, 64, of McPherson, Kansas, passed away at 7:37 a.m., Monday, January 12th, 2009 while in the company of family members at his residence.
Mr. Ensminger was born in McPherson, Kansas on April 9, 1944, the son of Clarence Ray "Bud" and Lillian Grace (Hulse) Ensminger.
Wayne attended the Fairview country school, graduated from Eden Prairie country school both rural Conway, Kansas and graduated from McPherson High School, McPherson, Kansas 1963.
Wayne was a member of First United Methodist Church McPherson, Kansas.
Wayne honorably served in the U.S. Navy.
Wayne was a farmer and worked for Swick Guth as an operator, then he worked as a lineman for McPherson Board of Public Utilities, was a pipeline operator for Midwest Underground Storage and retired from Texaco Underground Storage both of Conway, Kansas. Following his retirement he continued to work in maintenance positions for Lakeside Apartments and Mustang Mobile Park both of McPherson.
Wayne was a member of the American Legion Post 24; The U.S.S. Rich Assocation; and the Kansas Walleye Association.
Wayne Ensminger was united in marriage to Sharyl J. Johnson on November 17,1967 at First United Methodist Church, McPherson, Kansas.
Survivors include his wife of over 41 years, Sharyl, of the home; his daughters, Kim Pote and her husband Darin of Inman, Kansas and Stacey Post and her husband Jim of McPherson, Kansas; his brothers, Lonnie Ensminger and his wife Loueen of McPherson, Kansas and Richard Ensminger and his wife Ann of Glendale, Arizona; his sister, Twila Mehl and her husband Gary of McPherson, Kansas; his sister-in-law, Betty Ensminger of McPherson, Kansas; his grandchildren, Trenton S. and Caden J. Severs, Kylie L. and MacKenzie L. Shoulders and James “Jimmy” Wayne Post; other extended family members and a host of very dear friends.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence Ray "Bud" and Lillian Grace (Hulse) Ensminger; a brother, Darrell Ensminger; a son-in-law, Mark Shoulders.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 15, 2009 from 3 to 8 p.m. with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. at Glidden - Ediger Chapel, McPherson, Kansas.
Memorial service will be held at First United Methodist Church, McPherson, Kansas, at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 16th, 2009 with Reverend Mike Marion and Reverend Harold Nelson officiating.
Private family graveside service will be held at the McPherson Cemetery McPherson, Kansas. Military honors will be presented by members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2715 and American Legion Post 24, both of McPherson, Kansas.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church 1200 E. Kansas Avenue or American Heart Assocation or McPherson Relay for Life and they can be sent in care of the Glidden - Ediger Funeral Home; 222 West Euclid Street; McPherson, Kansas 67460.
