John D. Cunningham
Mr. John D. Cunningham, 68, of McPherson, passed away at 6:55 p.m., Monday, December 28th, 2009 while in the company of family members at his home, McPherson, Kansas.
Mr. Cunningham was born in Winfield, Kansas on January 25, 1941, the son of Kedric B. "Casey" and Virginia Nadine (Barnes) Cunningham.
John attended the McPherson schools and graduated from McPherson High School, McPherson, Kansas. He then inlisted in the United States Navy where he honoarably served his Country during Vietnam, served 3 tours and spent 19 years before being discharged.
He attended Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses McPherson, Kansas.
John worked for Johns Manville for 19 years prior to working as an Operator and later a Material Handler for Central Plastics of McPherson. He retired in 2007.
John was a former member of the American Legion Post 24 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2715 both of McPherson.
John Cunningham was united in marriage to Avelina J. Hernandez on July 6, 1995 at McPherson, Kansas.
Surviving family members include his wife Avelina J. Cunningham of McPherson, Kansas; his mother Virginia Cunningham of South Hutchinson, Kansas; his brother Ronald G. Cunningham of Elllinwood, Kansas; his sisters Karen S. Base of McPherson, Kansas, Linda K. Gardner of Hayesville, Ohio, and Vicky I. Polreis of Nickerson, Kansas; his step -sons Casey Cunningham of Lansing, Kansas, Roberto Villanueva of McPherson, Kansas, Rodelio Villanueva of McPherson, Kansas, and Rolando Villanueva of Philippines; his step daughters Marilyn Indorf and her husband John of McPherson, Kansas, Marissa Bryant and her husband Randy of McPherson, Kansas, and Zeny Tocayon of Philippines; his sister-in-law Beatriz Byrd and her husband Jerry of McPherson, Kansas; Maria Lourdez Blake and her husband Jacob of McPherson; 33 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; other relatives and a host of friends.
John was preceded in death by his father K.B. "Casey" Cunningham;
Services are private at will be at the convenience of family.
