Ms. Edith Viola Fletcher, 96, of McPherson, passed away at 12:51 a.m., Saturday, October 15th, 2011, peacefully at The Cedars House, McPherson, Kansas.
Ms. Fletcher was born in on her parents homestead, rural McPherson, Kansas on March 1, 1915, the daughter of the late John Edward and Helga Louise (Peterson) Carlson.
Edith attended Champion Country School, rural McPherson, Kansas and graduated from McPherson High School, McPherson, Kansas. She attended Kansas State University, Manhattan, Kansas for 1 year and graduated from McPherson, College, McPherson, Kansas with her Teachers Certificate.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church McPherson, Kansas
Edith taught at Liberty Country School, rural Galva, Kansas; worked for a Creamery in Topeka, Kansas; worked for the Santa Fe Railroad, Topeka, Kansas as a Bookkeeper for 5 years; was the Owner and Operator of Cosmopolitan Investment of Amarillo, Texas for 12 years; owner and operator of the Daily Loan Service, of Amarillo and the Daily Sky Sales of Tyler Texas.
Sister: June Buttenhoff of Sylvan Grove, Kansas.
Sister-in-law: Doris Carlson of McPherson, Kansas
Several nieces and nephews
She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Lillian Carlson and Elsie Doyle; and brother, Leland Carlson.
At the families request there will be no visitation.
Memorial Service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, McPherson, KS, at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 22nd, 2011 with Reverend Tim Leaf officiating.
Graveside services will precede the memorial service at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 22, 2011 at the McPherson Cemetery, McPherson, Kansas.
