What is PrePlanning?

Pre-planning is the process in which you and your funeral director get together to record your wishes that you prefer to be followed at the time of your death. There is no charge for this service and by providing this information relives your family from many important decisions during what could be an emotionally wrenching time.

Planning your funeral service in advance can offer emotional and financial security for you and your family. With preplanning, which doesn't necessarily mean paying in advance, families find comfort in knowing that the funeral reflects what their loved one wanted.

Peace of mind is among the biggest reasons people are choosing to make advance funeral arrangements. A trend in personalization is another. Individuals and families today are planning celebrations of life as unique as the individual being remembered. Today's funeral include adding personal touches such as favorite music and incorporating hobbies and life's accomplishments. It can include all funeral wishes, such as biographical information about you, hobbies, special interests, casket, vault, urn, or other merchandise selected, music, flower, and scripture preferences, and participants that you would like to have involved such as: vocalist, organist or pianist, ushers, casket bearers, bagpipers, etc...

Once you've made your plans, your funeral director will give you copy's of your wishes and you will want to keep a copy of them and any pertinent paperwork in a safe place. Also, inform other family members or a close friend or other relative what arrangements you've made and where the information may be found. Your funeral director will also have a copy of your wishes.
