Troy Glidden is a co-owner and licensed Embalmer and Funeral Director of Glidden – Ediger Funeral home along with his brother-in-law, Ed Ediger. Troy was born and raised in McPherson and grew up in and around the funeral business. He started working in 1976 for his father, Herb Glidden who owned the funeral home and his brother-in-law who was the manager. Troy’s duties at that time was mowing the lawn and keeping the grounds in order. When he received his driver’s license he added washing the cars to his duties.
Troy graduated from McPherson High School in 1984. Troy attended and graduated from Kansas City Kansas Community College in 1988 and served his apprenticeship under the direction of Ed.
On September 30, 1989 he was united in marriage to Rhonda Peters, who was also born and raised in McPherson. Troy and Rhonda have two great sons: Jakob and Alex. Both Troy and Rhonda are active in the McPherson area and are on or have served on many boards in the community through the years.
Troy is presently a member of The Kansas Funeral Directors Association and The National Funeral Directors Association.
Ed Ediger is a co-owner of Glidden-Ediger Funeral Home. He graduated from McPherson High School in 1967. Ed served in the United States Navy as a member of Mobile Construction Battalion No. 3 in Okinawa, Guam and Vietnam. He was married to Jeanne Glidden in 1972. They have three sons, Joshua, Beau, and Samuel and six grandsons, Logan, Braeden, Collin, Laeton, Landen and Lawson, and two granddaughters Addison and Britton.
Ed graduated from Emporia State University with a BSE in psychology prior to graduating from the Mortuary Science Program at Kansas City Community College in 1975 and was licensed as both an embalmer and funeral director in 1976. He has been employed at the funeral home since that time. In 1990 he and his brother-in-law, Troy Glidden, became co-owners of the Funeral Home.
