Billy Lee Parsons

December 1, 1932 - August 21, 2021

Billy Lee Parsons, 88, of Inman, Kansas, passed away at 4:08 p.m., Saturday, August 21st, 2021 peacefully, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center, Hutchinson, Kansas. Billy was born in rural Alta Vista, Kansas on December 1, 1932, a son of Iva Bell (Berry) and Pearly Otis Parsons. Billy attended Alta Vista Elementary School and graduated from Alta Vista High School in Alta Vista, Kansas, he then attended and graduated from Ottawa University in Ottawa, Kansas in 1960. He was a member of Church of the Nazarene in McPherson. He served in the U.S. Army as a Cpl in the Korean War. Billy was a math teacher through the years for Overbrook High School, Overbrook, Kansas, Montezuma High School, Montezuma, Kansas, Paradise High School in Paradise, Kansas, and retired from Natoma High School Natoma, Kansas. After retirement he enjoyed substitute teaching, and when they moved to McPherson, was a para for the McPherson High School. Billy enjoyed helping his friends and neighbors, attending sporting events, coaching, teaching high school math and loved watching his kids and grandkids playing sports and spending time with his friends and family. Billy Lee Parsons was united in marriage to Doris Eileen Bradley on December 5, 1953 at Topeka, Kansas. where the young couple established their first home together. This union was blessed with the birth of five children, two sons and three daughters, Tony, Beverly, Jay, Lori and Meredith. Doris passed away on September 13, 2019. He is survived by his children, Tony Parsons, of Victoria, Kansas, Beverly Parsons, of Inman, Kansas, Jay Parsons and his wife Sharena, of Inman, Kansas, Lori Parsons, of Independence, Missouri and Meredith Roblez and her husband JR, of Overland Park, Kansas. He is also survived by Grandchildren -2 Anthony Parsons and Camien Parsons Billy was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Oren Parsons; a sister, Glennis Furman. A visitation will be held on Friday, August 27, 2021 at the Glidden-Ediger Chapel from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. A funeral Service will be held on August 28, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at Glidden - Ediger Chapel, McPherson, Kansas. Military honors will be provided by the American Legion Post 24 and the Veteran's of Foreign Wars Post 2715. Burial will be held on Saturday, August 28, 2021 at 2:30 p.m. at the Alta Vista Cemetery, Alta Vista, Kansas. Memorial are to Alzheimer Association, McPherson County Food Bank or Paradise Alumni Association and they can be sent to Glidden-Ediger Funeral Home; 222 W. Euclid St., McPherson, Ks. 67460.
