Evelyn Geraldine Delfs, 85, of Inman, KS, passed away at 11:20 a.m., Tuesday, March 22nd, peacefully, at Pleasant View Home, Inman, Kansas. Evelyn Geraldine Delfs, the only child of Otto and Lillian H. (Wiegand) Delfs, was born August 16, 1930 in Inman, Kansas. She was raised on the Wolf Creek Farm just West of Inman where her grandparents began from a dugout. She grew up in the Evangelical faith. At an early age, Evelyn took piano lessons and she got out of doing a lot of the chores on the farm because her mother always insisted she “stay on the piano bench”. She liked this very much! Her dad expanded the farm to include extensive acreages of wheat, corn, milo, maize, alfalfa hay, etc; OIC registered hogs, milk cows and fattening steers, chickens, turkeys, ducks and geese. Evelyn graduated from Wolf Creek Country School in McPherson County in 1944, and Hutchinson High School, Hutchinson, Kansas in 1948. She then graduated from Adele Hale Business School, Hutchinson, Kansas, Colorado Women's College, Denver, Colorado grad in 1957, where she was a member of the Delta Kappa Sorority. She then Graduated from John Robert Powers Modeling School of San Francisco, 1960. She received honors from the American College of Musicians for Piano Guild Hall of Fame, for her Student Group Piano Performances. Evelyn was the owner and operator of Evelyn's Piano Studio of San Francisco from 1956 to 1972 and Honolulu, Hawaii from 1972 to 1979, she taught piano lessons for most of her life and was a Certified Piano Teacher by the American College of Musicians. She attended Holy Cross Catholic Church Hutchinson, Kansas. She was a member of the Association of Mary Immaculate and in August of 1980 she became a Sister and was a Perpetual Member in the Association of the Miraculous Medal of St. Mary's Seminary, Perryville, Missouri. Through the years she made thousands of Rosaries. In 1979 she moved back home for her mother to help take care of her until her death. Evelyn was a Christian, loving and caring daughter, cousin, Sister, friend, and piano teacher. Her gracious smile and music will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her. She was very proud of her family and always enjoyed spending time with them. She was a great piano teacher and always thought of her students as her kids and was very proud of all their accomplishments. She was a proud survivor of three cancer surgeries and osteoporosis. Evelyn Geraldine Delfs, 85, of Inman, Kansas, passed away at 11:20 a.m., Tuesday, March 22nd, 2016 peacefully, at Pleasant View Home, Inman, Kansas. She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her cousins, Craig Wiegand and his wife Marguerite, of Weslaco, Texas, Lela Mae Wiegand, of Santa Rosa, Texas, Twila Wallace, of Dallas, Texas, Judy Waterbeck and her husband Terry, of Maple Grove, Minnesota, Beverly Regier and her husband Loren, of Inman, Kansas, and Ron Wiegand, of Golden, Colorado. Graveside service will be held at North Inman Cemetery, Inman, Kansas, at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 26th, 2016 with Reverend Dennis Ureche officiating. “Amazing Grace” will be sung by those in attendance.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Pleasant View Home, Inman, Kansas and they can be sent in care of the Glidden - Ediger Funeral Home; 222 West Euclid Street; McPherson, Kansas 67460.
