Mrs. Joan M. Frobenius, 54, of McPherson, Kansas, passed away at 8:03 a.m., Tuesday, March 4th, 2008 while in the company of family members at her residence. Mrs. Joan Frobenius was born in Newton, Kansas on May 12, 1953, the daughter of Howard Clifford and Hilda R. (Ediger) Schierling.Joan attended the Hillcrest and Turkey Creek Country Schools and graduated from Inman High School in 1971. She then attended Emporia State University, Emporia, Kansas. She was a member of New Hope Evangelical Church. Joan was a homemaker and through the years worked for the following car dealerships in the service departments: Campbell Chrysler-Plymoth, Turner Chevrolet, Reimer Motors, Lacy-Regehr Motors, all of McPherson and Marshall Motors of Salina, Kansas; co-owner of City Cycle and Mikes Bikes both of McPherson, account manager for the Pepsi Cola Company and was currently Customer Service Rep for First Bank Kansas, all of McPherson. Joan earned several awards and honors from Chrysler and Ford Motor Companys and was past secretary for the Kansas State Bicycle Organization. Joan Maxine Schierling was united in marriage to Michael Kent Frobenius on August 1, 1975 at Bethel Mennonite Church, Inman, Kansas. Surviving members of her family include her loving and devoted husband, Mike Frobenius, of McPherson, Kansas; son, Scott Frobenius and his wife Portia, of Derby, Kansas; daughter Amy Frobenius, of McPherson, Kansas; her parents, Howard and Hilda Schierling, of Inman, Kansas; her sisters, JoEtta Ediger and her husband Gary, of Hutchinson, Kansas, Donna Thiessen and her husband Lyle Thiessen, of Hutchinson, Kansas, Dorothy Luty and her husband Mike, of Inman, Kansas; her grandson, Aaron Bergkamp, of McPherson, Kansas and her granddaughter, Alexis “Lexi” Frobenius, of Derby, Kansas; her parents-in-law, Marion and Dorothy Frobenius, of McPherson; her brother-in-law, DeWayne Frobenius, of Branson West, Missouri; sister-in-law, Marilyn Perkins and her husband Steve, of McPherson, many nieces and nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.The memorial service will be held at the First Baptist Church, McPherson, Kansas at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, March 7th, with Pastor Jim Keil officiating. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.
