Maxine Tillman

February 19, 1929 - March 22, 2018

Maxine Tillman, 89, of McPherson, Kansas passed away Thursday, March 22nd, 2018 in the company of her children, at Cedars House 803. Maxine was born in McPherson, Kansas on February 19, 1929, a daughter of Hannah Alveda (Peterson) and Paul B. Paulseen. Maxine attended McPherson grade schools, McPherson Junior High and graduated from McPherson High School, McPherson, Kansas in 1947. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church McPherson, in her youth. Maxine started working at the Gas Company as a clerk, was a homemaker and she took great pride in providing for her family, later she worked part-time for Farmers Alliance Insurance Company and McPherson Sentinel in the back with her sister as a inserter. Maxine was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, and a sorority member, was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2715 Auxiliary and the American Legion Post 24 Ladies Auxiliary. Maxine was an outstanding cook and enjoyed cooking for her family. She also enjoyed needle work, cross-stitch, and crocheting, and spending time with her friends and family. Maxine L. Paulseen was united in marriage to Carroll Clayton "Salty" Tillman on August 15, 1948 at McPherson, Kansas. The young couple established their first home together in McPherson, Kansas and they were blessed with the birth of two children, a daughter and a son, Nancy and Mike. Salty died on November 16, 2004. She is survived by her children, Nancy Carpenter and husband Don, of Derby, Kansas, and Mike Tillman and wife Cindy, of McPherson, Kansas; her 2 grandchildren, Jaclyn Gifford and husband Chris, Blake Tillman and wife Stacy; her 2 great-grandchildren, Logan Gifford and Cooper Gifford; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. Maxine was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Salty Tillman, brothers, Virgil, Gordon, and LaVern Paulseen and sisters, Verna Gradinger, Frances Bughman, and Betty Cramer. Friends are invited to call on Thursday, March 29, 2018 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Glidden - Ediger Chapel. The memorial service will be held at the Glidden - Ediger Chapel, McPherson, Kansas, at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 30th, 2018 with The Reverend Lynn Scott officiating. Private family burial will be held at the Crestwood Memorial Park Cemetery, rural McPherson. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to McPherson Shrine Club Children's Fund and they can be sent in care of the Glidden - Ediger Funeral Home; 222 West Euclid Street; McPherson, Kansas 67460.
