Nadine L. Ramsdale, 86, of McPherson, Kansas, passed away at 8:10 a.m., Monday, May 20th, while in the company of family members, at McPherson Hospital. Nadine was born on her parent's farm in rural Anness, Kansas on September 19, 1926, a daughter of Minnie C. (Fieser) and Darwin I. Lowrey.Nadine attended the Anness Grade School, Mount Pleasant Country School, and Norwich Grade School. She graduated from Norwich High School, Norwich, Kansas in 1944. She then attended, Kansas State University, Manhattan, Kansas and Wichita State University in Wichita, Kansas and she received her teachers certificate. Nadine was a member of First United Methodist Church in McPherson, Kansas. Nadine was a homemaker and taught schools at the Bickel Country School near Kingman, Kansas, taught at Clearwater Grade School, Clearwater, Kansas, taught 7th grade at the Wamego Grade School, Wamego, Kansas, and taught her last years at the Mound Country School near Moundridge, Kansas which was also a one room school house. Nadine was a member of Beta Omicron ESA for 32 years, Daughters of the American Revolution, and Order of Eastern Star. She was an avid bridge player, playing duplicate and contract bridge, and a member of the fearless foursome. She was a 32 year member of the McPherson Ladies Thursday morning bowling league. She was an avid sports fan by either being at the games or watching on TV. Nadine L. Lowrey was united in marriage to Richard L. Ramsdale on August 8, 1948 at the Methodist Church in Norwich, Kansas. The young couple established their first home together in Manhattan, Kansas. The family moved to Moundridge, Kansas after Dick finished college in August of 1950. In 1954 they moved to McPherson. This union was blessed with the birth of three children, one daughter and two sons, Janelle, Marc, and Leigh. Surviving family members include her husband of over sixty-four years, Richard L. Ramsdale, of McPherson, Kansas; her children, Janelle Tauer and her husband Loren, of Ithaca, New York, Marc Ramsdale and his wife Jody, of Knoxville, Tennessee, and Leigh Ramsdale and his wife Rhonda, of Milton, Kansas; her grandchildren, Gregory Tauer, of Buffalo, New York, Kristen Tauer, of New York, New York, Cassey Peters and her husband Casey, of Knoxville, Tennessee, Jackie Ramsdale, of Plano, Texas, Ross Ramsdale, of Knoxville, Tennessee, Bryan Ramsdale, of Milton, Kansas, and Courtney Ramsdale, of Milton, Kansas; other relatives and a host of friends and students.Nadine was preceded in death by her parents; and her brother, Robert Lowrey. Friends are invited to call on Thursday, May 23, 2013 from 4 to 8 p.m. with family present from 6 to 8 p.m. at Glidden - Ediger Chapel, McPherson, Kansas. The funeral service will be held at Glidden - Ediger Chapel, McPherson, Kansas, at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 24, 2013 with Reverend H. Dick Reynolds, Jr. officiating. Graveside services will be held at 3:30 p.m., Friday, May 24, 2013 at the Upchurch Cemetery, rural Norwich, Kansas with Reverend H. Dick Reynolds, Jr. officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Kansas State University and they can be sent in care of the Glidden - Ediger Funeral Home; 222 West Euclid Street; McPherson, Kansas 67460.
