Sadie A. 'Judy' Burke, 93, of McPherson, Kansas, passed away at 9:10 p.m., Sunday, December 20th, 2015 peacefully, at Pleasant View Home, Inman, Kansas. Sadie Agnes “Judy” Burke, the daughter of Patrick John and Catherine (Sherlock) Donohue, was born October 21, 1922 at Morrison, Oklahoma. She was the youngest of six children born to this union, three sons and three daughters, John, Edward, Margaret, Catherine, Patrick, and Judy. She attended the St. Catherine’s Catholic School, Tulsa, Oklahoma and graduated from St. Catherine’s Catholic High School. Judy was united in marriage to Ernest Glenn “Ernie” Burke on March 16, 1942 at McPherson, Kansas. The young couple established their first home together in McPherson and they were blessed with the birth of three children, two sons and a daughter, Patrick, Danny, and Cathy. Judy was a homemaker and she took great pride in providing for her family in this manner. Judy was a member of the American Legion Post 24 Ladies Auxiliary for many years. She was also a member of a local birthday club and bowled on the Lucky Strikes bowling team for many years. Judy was a Christian, loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and dear friend. Her wise counsel, gentle but firm guidance, and gracious smile will be missed by those who knew and loved her. Judy was very proud of her children and always wanted the best for them. She was especially fond of her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-granddaughter, always looking forward to their visits and times they would share together. Judy enjoyed reading, going to garage sales, going to parties and socializing with all her old and new friends, and spending time with her family. Judy Burke, 93, of McPherson, Kansas, passed away at 9:10 p.m., Sunday, December 20th, 2015 peacefully, at Pleasant View Home, Inman, Kansas. Judy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Ernie Burke; brothers, John, Edward, Patrick Leo Donohue and sisters, Margaret Toogood, and Catherine Donohue. Judy is survived by her children, Patrick Burke, of McPherson, Kansas, Danny Burke and his fiancé Rachelle, of Buhler, Kansas, and Cathy Rausch and her husband Bob, of McPherson, Kansas; her 7-grandchildren, Tony Burke and wife Shelly, Jackie Ribordy and her husband Roland, Joey Burke, Casey Burke, Nick Rausch and his wife Beth, Travis Rausch and his wife Amy, and Kelly Rausch and his wife Liz; 15 - great-grandchildren - Jessica Harrison, Zoey, Skylar, Aiden, and Katlyn Burke; Madelyn and Jack Ribordy; Jase Burke; Garrett, Jaycee, and Camdyn Rausch; Colton, and Aly Rausch; Leyton and Easton Rausch; 1 great-great-granddaughter - Jovie Harrison; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. Memorial service will be held at Glidden - Ediger Chapel, McPherson, Kansas, at 11:00 on Monday, December 28th, 2015 with Reverend H. Dick Reynolds, Jr. officiating. Special music “Wind Beneath My Wings”, “How Great Thou Art”, and “Proud Mary” will be played. Members of the American Legion Post 24 Ladies Auxiliary will perform member services. The final resting place will be at the McPherson Cemetery, McPherson, Kansas. Memorials in memory of Judy are suggested to the Judy Burke memorial fund.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Judy Burke memorial fund and they can be sent in care of the Glidden - Ediger Funeral Home; 222 West Euclid Street; McPherson, Kansas 67460.
