Tony Clements

March 4, 1932 - February 25, 2018

Tony Clements, 85, of McPherson, Kansas, passed away at 10:13 p.m., Sunday, February 25th, 2018 while in the company of family members, at Cedars Health Care Center. Tony was born in Maple Hill, Kansas on March 4, 1932, a son of Mildred Elizabeth (Laverty) and Melvin A. "Bun" Clements. Tony attended the Weber grade school, Saginaw, Michigan, McPherson Junior High School and graduated from McPherson High School, McPherson, Kansas in 1950. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in McPherson. He served in the U.S. Navy as a Metalsmith 2nd class (ME2) in the Korean War. He received the National Defense Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Navy Occupation Service Medal, and Korean Service Ribbon with 2 stars and served on the U.S.S. SATYR. Tony worked for Swick Guth, and Kansas Cylinder Head as a Welder. He later worked for Johns-Manville in the Maintenance Department. He retired in 1997. Tony was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2715, former member of the American Legion Post 24, Elk's Lodge #502 B.P.O.E. Tony enjoyed Royals, Chiefs, bowling, golfing, hunting and fishing, loved traveling, and spending time with family and his grandchildren. Tony was united in marriage to Marlene J. Mountz on March 7, 1961 at Las Vegas, Nevada. They established their first home together in McPherson, Kansas. He is survived by his wife Marlene J. Clements, of McPherson, Kansas; his children, Brad Lockwood and his wife Ann, of Highlands Ranch, Colorado; Cary Lockwood, of Euless, Texas, James "Tracy" Clements and his wife Toya, of Wichita, Kansas, Toni Brauer and her husband Richard, of McPherson, Kansas; his brother Guy Clements and his wife Frances, of Wichita, Kansas. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren - Melissa Lockwood, Jennifer Lockwood, Delaney Lockwood, Melissa Cloutre(Joe), Trenton Clements, Marci Clements, William "Bil" Brauer, 7 - great-grandchildren - Veronica, Taylor, Adrian, Katherine, Jeremiah, Eyrn and Madelyn. Tony was preceded in death by his parents A memorial Service at Glidden-Ediger Chapel, McPherson, Kansas, at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 2nd, 2018 with The Reverend Tim Leaf officiating. Members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2715 and the American Legion Post 24 will provide military honors. The final resting place will be at the McPherson Cemetery, McPherson, Kansas at a later date Memorials are suggested to Trinity Lutheran Church or Leader Dogs for the Blind and they can be sent in care of Glidden-Ediger Funeral Home; 222 West Euclid St.; McPherson, Ks. 67460; 620-241-2550..
