W. E. Tony' Sallee Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Mr. W. E. 'Tony' Sallee, 74, of McPherson, KS., passed away at 9:20 p.m., Thursday, June 30th, 2011 while in the company of family members at his residence. William Earl “Tony” Sallee, the son of James Earl and Esther Marie (Lasiter) Sallee, was born June 11, 1937, at Percell, Missouri. He was one of five children born to this union: Jimmy, Tony, Orville, Joyce, and Charles “Chuck”. Tony attended the Alba, Missouri and Lyons, Kansas grade schools and graduated from Lyons High School in 1955. Tony attended and graduated from Venius Hairdressing College in Wichita, Kansas. Tony started working for Shairkmere Beauty Salon and in 1966, he moved to McPherson, Kansas and owned and operated Coiffures By Tony. Through the years, Tony made many friends. He joined the King’s Hiway Baptist Church where he was a trustee, head usher, and served his church in other capacities through the years. Tony was a faithful Christian, loving and caring brother, uncle, friend, and hairdresser. His wise council, sense of humor, and gracious smile will be missed by those who knew and loved him. He was especially fond of his nieces and nephews and always looked forward to their visits and times they would share together. Tony enjoyed singing, T.V., people watching, shopping and traveling throughout the Caribbean and Central America on cruise ships. His best travels and shopping was in St. Thomas for jewelry. He was always ready for a trip through Curacao which would usually include shopping, especially shopping for SHIRTS! Tony also took many trips to Branson Missouri. Mr. W. E. Tony Sallee, 74, of McPherson, passed away at 9:20 p.m., Thursday, June 30th, 2011, while his best friend was holding his hand, at his home. Tony was preceded in death by his parents, James and Esther Sallee; 2 brothers, Jimmy Ray Sallee and Orville Sallee; a sister, Joyce Shuttleworth, and a nephew, John Earl Sallee. Surviving family members include his best friend, Britt Lawson of McPherson, Kansas; his brother, Charles 'Chuck' Anthony Sallee and his wife Tammy of Hutchinson, Kansas; his nieces and nephews, Thomas Sallee, Will Sallee of Concordia, Kansas, Cheryl Ray and her husband Curtis of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Ed Root and his wife Veronica of Hutchinson, Kansas, Brian Shuttleworth and his wife Patty of Bridgeport, Kansas, Douglas Shuttleworth of Joplin, Missouri, Connie Dick of Medicine Lodge, Kansas, Rick Sallee of Wichita, Kansas, Mike Sallee of Smyrna, Tennessee, and Shelly Sallee of Wichita, Kansas; his special friends, Karen Bowles and her husband Tony of McPherson, Kansas and Robert Elkins of Moundridge, Kansas; many other nieces and nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.Friends are invited to call on Tuesday, July 5, 2011 from 4 to 8p.m. with family present from 6 to 8 p.m. at Kings Hiway Baptist Church, McPherson, Kansas. Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., on July 6, 2011, at Kings Hiway Baptist Church, McPherson, Kansas, with Pastor Greg Renz officiating. Special music recording “Look For Me At Jesus’s Feet” with vocals by Britt Lawson will be played.
